Year 9 Curriculum - Food

In Year 9 in Food and Nutrition, students will focus on developing a repertoire of balanced main meal dishes, hand-made sauces and bread and pastry making. Students will study the link between nutrition and life-stages, special dietary needs, functions of macronutrients in the body and industry sensory analysis methods.

Students will also consider food hygiene and safety and will carry out a range of research and analysis and investigation tasks. The challenging knowledge and skills topics focused on this term aims to prepare students for the rigours of studying GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition at KS4 next year.
