Year 13 Curriculum - Business Studies

In Year 13 the course of study is as follows:-

Component 2 - Business Analysis and Strategy

Component 3 - Business In A Changing World

Component 2 - Business Analysis and Strategy

As the title suggests, the emphasis in this component is on understanding and using analytical techniques and developing appropriate business strategies.

Students need to construct and analyse a range of decision-making models and investment appraisal methods used by businesses to decide on their strategy.

Component 3 - Business In A Changing World

Component 3 focuses on how businesses adapt to succeed in a dynamic external environment.  Students need to understand that the business world never stands still and there are continuous opportunities and threats to businesses of all sizes.

Students will learn about businesses operating in a global marketplace and they need to consider a wide range of factors that will affect the decisions that these businesses make.

These 2 components are assessed together with component 1 at the end of Year 13

Component 2 - 2 hours, 15 minutes written examination worth 33.3% of qualification.

Compulsory data response and structured questions.

Component 3 - 2 hours, 15 minutes examination worth 33.3% of qualification.

Section A -compulsory questions based upon a case study.

Section B -one synoptic essay from a choice of 3.
