Year 9

In Year 9 PSHRE lessons, we focus on understanding wellbeing, focusing on the wellbeing and mental health of ourselves and others around us, whilst aiming to build resilience in difficult situations. We look at relationships in terms of friendships and our interactions with other people, thinking about the use of social media and the internet, as well as focusing on different kinds of appropriate relationships with different people in society. We also look at budgeting and managing our money, focusing on the difference between wants and needs. There is a clear focus on careers, through developing and acknowledging skills which will help students in their personal and professional lives, writing a CV and the process of job interviews. This is then linked with their GCSE Option choices, thinking about which subjects they would be successful at and which subjects may benefit their future career choices.

Year 9 have spiritual input through daily prayers, weekly assemblies and student led Sacred Spaces. We also have a retreat day and the chance for Confession and Mass throughout the year, as well as recognition of important holy days and Saints' feast days throughout the Church's Liturgical Year.
