Visit to the Houses of Parliament and the Palace of Westminster

Monday 12th March 56 students from Year 7-13 were lucky enough to visit the Houses of Parliament in London - the home of our democracy.  We visited the Palace of Westminster and were able to go into both chambers; the House of Commons and the House of Lords and had a marvellous insight into the procedures and oddities of our legislature.  Did you know the first way that our MPs vote is to shout 'aye' or 'no' and see who is the loudest?!

We then took part in a representation and democracy workshop where we explored the strengths and weaknesses of different voting systems.  Well done to the girls for asking such intelligent questions and for their impeccable behaviour.  We were very proud of you
