Careers Education, Guidance and Employability play an important part in the lives of students at St Paul’s School for Girls. The aim of our programme is to provide students with the skills and knowledge to make wise and informed choices regarding their future and develop skills to prepare them for their working life. There is a dedicated Career Education section on Firefly for both students and parents.
CEIAG enables the pupils to make impartial, informed, balanced and appropriate decisions about many key areas of their future development, progression and career pathways. CEIAG at St Paul’s School for Girls is completely impartial which enables CEIAG to be delivered in an objective and balanced manner by all staff, so that each pupil receives exactly the same opportunities to explore potential pathways. CEIAG is delivered in PSHRE across the curriculum and through our Enrichment Career Days.
The school’s CEIAG Coordinator is Ms Kettle who is supported by the CEIAG Adviser Mr Daniel Tehan from Stepping Forward LTD. There is a Careers Drop-In room, which is available for every pupil. Students have access to up to date information about their future options in the Careers Room and in the Learning Hub where leaflets, books, magazines and university prospectuses are available.
Employability skills and work experience is a major focus in Year 10 and 12, in preparation for work experience and in Year 11 and Year 13 have a robust programme in order to ensure that students are very well prepared for their next phase of life.
In addition to this, any advice or guidance given to pupils is personalised and appropriate. St Paul’s School for Girls also believes that working with outside agencies is an invaluable part of the CEIAG curriculum on offer and we work with a number of these, including: Getting In Go Far, The Careers and Enterprise Company, The University of Aston, Birmingham and BCU and many more….
