Leaving a Legacy at Ladywood Leisure Centre

Leaving our mark!

Pupil’s from St Paul’s School for Girls were invited to enter a poetry competition where the five winning entries were included in to a time capsule, on ISG’s Ladywood Leisure Centre site. The winners were invited down to the site to help place the time capsule within one of the interior walls, cementing its place in history.
Pupils and staff from the school had a chance to meet local councillors and hand over their work in the time capsule to Craig Johnson, Project Manager for main contractor, ISG, the company building the leisure centre for the development project partners. They also saw the site and heard about the extensive, modern sports facilities to be provided at Ladywood, in what will be their local recreation centre.

Birmingham City Council and Sport England are investing £8.5 million in the development which will feature a state-of-the-art gym with approximately 135 stations offering the latest in fitness equipment, a 25-metre swimming pool with timing equipment for competition events and spectator seating for 250 people, a teaching pool, a dance studio, relaxation, sauna and steam areas and a café.

This centre will provide the community with facilities for generations to come.

Well done to our students for getting their poems into the history of Birmingham.
